Breaking Down Beautiful – When to Rest

Please, I beg of you, DO NOT over do it in the gym.
I know, I know, you are SO desperate for those toned, Michelle Obama arms, that Beyonce booty, those Carrie Underwood legs, and the Victoria Secret stomach, BUT it IS possible to over do it in the gym.

If you are new to the gym, please only start out with 3 to 4 days a week, an hour tops. If you do more than that, your muscles go into shock and you can actually injure yourself.

If you are a fitness professional, please give yourself one day of rest, per week, MINIMUM. You can also over do it in the gym. I’ve witnessed many athletes cramp and tear muscles in the gym because they don’t give themselves any rest.

If there is a day you are just so mentally, physically and emotionally exhausted, let your body rest!! It is OKAY!!! If you don’t feel like working out one day, don’t beat yourself up about it. You can stress yourself out even more forcing your body to do something it doesn’t have the energy to do.

There are some weeks I feel like I just need my body to recover, so I’ll take an entire week off. The following week, when I get back to it, I actually feel stronger and my workouts feel much more beneficial. These are the best workouts. I know I’ve rested, my muscles have recovered, and I feel like I’m on FIRE! (in a good way of course, lol)

Moral of the story, let your body rest. Nobody is going to yell at you, or judge you, because you are doing what is healthy for your body. Especially when you have better progress than them because you do let your body recover.

REST when needed! IT IS OKAY! 🙂
